After washing your hands in a public restroom, you have a choice; you can use a paper towel (which kills trees) or you can use a hand dryer (which uses electricity). In order to live more sustainably, we prefer a third option: Use your pants to dry your hands!
The idea is so simple and can save so many resources that we decided to make stickers to put in restrooms. And we put up a web site to spread the word. We also decided to add other ideas to the website, to help those who want to have a more positive effect on our planet.
If you have any ideas to contribute, send them our way, and we'll share them with the world.
Reduce Your Waste: Every time you throw something in the trash ask yourself what you could have done to eliminate that trash. In other words, how can you modify your actions to avoid creating more waste in the same way? When you think of a solution, implement it right away.
By eating locally grown food you reduce the amount of energy required to bring the meal to your table. You also get the benefit of supporting your local economy.
Do you drive a Hummer? An Escalade? A status symbol? Did you know that when sensible, enlightened people see you drive by, they shake their heads?
Drive more slowly; it will save you gas, money, and points on your driver’s license, as well as help conserve natural resources.
Our natural resources are like a savings account that pays great dividends. How much can we spend? Learn more »
Ever wonder how quickly our natural resources are depleted? Have a look at our resource calculator, and see for yourself.
